Ever felt guilty for wanting to be alone and do absolutely nothing?

Well, this post is about how you need to stop with the guilt and get with the recharging program. I remember a few years back, a little girl asked me what was the point of naps. I tried to not give her the side eye because, GIRL! If only she knew how much she'll regret protesting them naps!

Anyways, I tried my best to explain to her why naps are so vital. I told her that it's like charging your phone. We as human beings have batteries too. And sometimes we need a day to just lay there and do absolutely nothing and charge.

However there is that pesky voice in our head that is constantly judging us, right?

"You have work to do." "You're lazy for not going to the gym" "Barbara doesn't watch Netflix and snack all day"

Okay, well Barbara can kiss my ass! (No offense to all the Barbaras) because we are not like every person out there! I am me as you are you. Therefore STOP JUDGING YOURSELF because you wind down differently than others.

Mental Health Day

Everyone has heard of them. Everyone should utilize them. We all deserve a day where we cater to ourselves. We dedicate time to make sure our physical being is on the same wavelength as our mentality.

I can't stress enough how important it is to give yourself that ONE day to check in with yourself. That one day to just take a break! It is truly vital to our health.

I used to be that person who stressfully watched Netflix. You know that feeling where you're watching it but then you remember you have homework or something to do, but instead of stopping and doing that. You just continue to watch Netflix all stressed out? Ha. You're not alone.

Everyday I was dying a little more than I should be and that was because I barely gave myself a break. Or sometimes I gave myself TOO many breaks. (Yes that's a thing, unfortunately.)

So I decided to try my hardest everyday until I couldn't try anymore. Then that one day I would unapologetically do absolutely NOTHING. Well I did whatever the hell I wanted which for me is nothing. And let me tell you, it felt GREAT! For 24 hrs I slept, watched my shows, rolled around, etc. And honestly by the time night came around I was craving structure! I wanted to do something else other than nothing. And I believe that was when my battery was at 100 percent.

Point is, I think it's really important to incorporate mental health days in your schedule. Just like your iPhone, you need to be recharged as well. And the most important part of your mental health day is to not judge yourself! Clear your mind. Clear your schedule (for the day) and love yourself!

If you babes have any ideas or rituals you do on your mental health days, share in the comments or email SunnyDuet@gmail.com I'll feature them on the blog!

Until then, stay sunny!
